I hope that i am posting in the correct place but was curious to find out from those of you who frequently transport your bikes by plane, which would be a better option:

Thule 699 roundtrip box or BikeSafe box?

I have a BMC RM01 and really do not want my bike to be damaged due to negligent airline staff so any advice in this regard would be appreciated.

Polaris EVA clam shell is strong enough to prevent crushing (except for extreme stuff) but only weighs 6.5kg so works best with airline weight limits.

Read good things about the EVA. Looked around last year, and went for a BikeBoxAlan and it's awesome - darned expensive, but awesome.

Bike Box Allan!

Got my 2 months old Dogma 65.1 damaged on flight to Europe in a padded bag sold in SA

Bought Bike Box Allan when I came back. Safe and easy to handle on airport and trains

I've got the EVOC & it's fantastic. Easier to handle than a box.

If its got soft "padded " sides, throw away!

I have found that this works well, and is price competitive. :w00t: post-44273-0-31872300-1390392633_thumb.jpg

Yes I've used several myself. Usually in our winter. The bonus is when you get back from your travels you can make a nice toasty fire with it.

Holycrap!!! That Thule bike box weighs 14kg on it's own. so if your bikes weighs more than 9kg you are getting boned for overweight.
