Karkloof / Howick / PMB bike rental

Hoping someone has some info please.

I'm heading to the KZN midlands in a few weeks and was wondering where I can rent a bike from. Would like to ride Karkloof specifically, but I'm in the Martizburg area also.

Googled and can't find anything except MTB tours. I just want to rent a bike though and not do a tour.

Thanks

Hi

Not to sure if anyone rents bikes in the area- im from Howick.

Your best bet would be to chat to the bike shops, all the chaps are very friendly and if they cant help you im sure they will point you in the right direction.

Big wheel cycles - chat to Dave Arpin. you can find them on the Piggly Wiggly website.

Howick cycles- chat to Trav. I think they have their own site.

Im not to sure about PMB but here are some of the bike shops.

Greg Minnar cycles

Jowetts cycles

Hattons cycles

Velo life

Good luck bud, hope to see you on the trails.

Thanks a lot. Appreciate all the info.

Will definitely give them a shout. I'm sure one of them will have something.

Looking forward to the trails - haven't ridden there before.

Gimme a shout if you need some local directions and tips. I live in Howick and am out on the trails almost daily.

If riding Karkloof (and you would be silly not to !) please go to the trail head (Karkloof Country Club) and fill in indemnity/pay day licence. Also check which trails are open and which closed for main/road works etc

I'll give them a call before I head out there just to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the info.

Hi nicds

Did you manage to come right with a rental bike?

I'm headed that way next week for a wedding and would also like to sneak in a ride at Karkloof, so need to rent a bike. If you have a contact you can share, please let me know.

Thanks

Any shops/services out there in that area?

1 general bike shop.. Howick Cycles

1 specialist bike showroom.. Pyga

Absolute Motion Cycles in Hilton (15km away) who stock most high end stuff too

None hire out bikes though ...

Hi,

I'm also needing a bike rental, does anyone know of anywhere that rents in 2017?

Why not take your bike? Sportsmans Warehouse have a reasonably priced bike bag. May be a bit more than renting (depending how many days you want to rent/ride, may work out cheaper) but the bag pays for itself after a couple trips and at you get to ride your own bike. That's what I ended up doing.

Otherwise Greg Minnaar Cycles said they could rent me a bike, but think it depends if they have demo bikes available.
