Shebeen Posted September 8, 2017 Share I know these were early 70s. Varsity and beer, synonymous!!!! The resulting price war between Luyt Breweries and SAB almost cost me a couple of years at Varsity!!! How come I remember the beer????I grew up as a WP supporter, louis luyt was SARB president and we had fun booing him when announced at newlands. I've since read his biography, and wow what a journey he had. He mentioned that they had a case that they needed to keep bottles with SAB identical for recycling, they then made theirs slightly larger to mess clog up the SAB machines! Anyone remember this beer???? i did a ski season in whistler in 2004, we did attempted a 100s club using colt 45. That was a big night!

Andymann Posted September 8, 2017 Share Camel Pyramid of Light If I remember correctly, used to be both in Jozi and CTAnd at the Stadium in Pretoria next to the old ISCOR head office.  That was the last one I went to in about 1992 I think.  They still used to give out free boxes of Camel
DPG Posted September 8, 2017 Share Anyone make the trip in 1988???? Yup,Was still in the army, so even though it was illegal to leave the country made the trek to ZIm in my bright Orange Ford Escort! Awesome couple of days. Springsteen, Sting, Tracy Chapman, Peter Gabriel etc etc! Still have a VHS tape of the concert. Biko by Gabriel has been played to death.Went to Swaziland shortly after that to see Clapton. What we had to do to see artists in those days!Push your memory back further, Queen The Works tour at Sun City! That's what started me on Live Concerts
