August Winds - Training

I still want to do this one day when the Southeaster is blowing blue murder. Ride up the west coast road as far and as fast as I can go and see how far I can get in 1 big go. Then phone the wife to come and fetch me.

My work mates tried that. Sadly the south Easter they were banking on turned out to be a north wester . Was the only day I was happy to be off the bike with a broken collar bone.

I remember being a younger in CT - rode towards the Strand against the S Easter to go and visit my Ouma, when I was unlucky, the wind would have turned N West by the time I head home. **** that was hard - switch off brain, and HTFU.

Another thing I realized while cycling in Kleinzee last December in the wind. If it is from behind in the heat you do not have the cool down factor that normal wind resistance offers and it starts getting hot quickly.

Would you say a heavier guy with more power will do better than a skinny guy with less power into the wind. Is it about cadence or power??

My experience, all about power!!

Worry more about the thunderstorm forecast for JHB tomorrow.

Agree, I find the small skinny buggers can drop me like I'm standing still on a steep climb but when a strong headwind is blowing I find it easy to keep up.

If you don't like riding in the wind, it's probably because you are too skinny.

Only weight weenies bitch about the wind, the rest of us just ignore it

Went for a ride at like 11:30 up at my local trail here in Magalies berg, and it felt like I had training wheel on my bike or something, at times it really went super slow like half the speed I usually get.

But, I don't mind. I quite like the challenge.
