Was driving to Blouberg when 3 guys cycled next to each other way out of the cycle lane and they had no intetion of riding single file. Strange thing was a week later on my way to La Montanara I saw a tandem in the middle of the road. Guy even gave the finger when I hooted at them.

Its not just CL riders.

Around this time of year, 80% of the folks out training for a shot at Fun Ride World Champ prefers to not let law and order get in the way their power figures. Its hard to pick that average back up again you know.

From April common sense seems to return as the numbers drop and a more chilled atmosphere starts to filter from the coffee shops.

that said, he moment people wear similar kit and congregate on the road, all hell breaks loose. Coffee rides becomes a chase for the next EPO shot. And then motorists and other cyclists are just inconvenience

funny how winter always brings out the BEST friendliest cyclists,,,normally because they the ones who have been cycling for years and they not out doing last min training for a specific race,

If the groups riding north of the fairways area over weekends continue to ride in this manner, it's only a matter of time before somebody gets hurt (or worse).

.

In the history of the cars vs. cyclist/pedestrian/jogger game, I am pretty certain that the motor vehicles have never conceded a single point...

.

Is it really too hard to grasp the simple fact that a collision with a motor vehicle will injure, maim or kill a cyclist?  Then where does all this bravado come from - can we really be this stupid?

Except maybe this one time?post-58906-0-07687900-1423480264_thumb.jpg

Compared to the CL riders, I am a saint on a bicycle. Have you ever tried to drive through the cradle on a Saturday morning? CL have got a power in numbers mindset, just because there are lots of you doesn't mean you own the road! I must go out there one morning with my GoPro and film some choice misbehavior from cyclists and post it on the hub.

Ag *** man.

I HAVE taken my GoPro to the cradle and have posted about it before.

Its not a CL thing, its a CLUB thing.

CycleLab, Esmero, Club100, Bruce Cycles, NorthCliff and those Tri guys have ALL been guilty of riding in bunches like chops.

ps: I ride a Spez, so even if I am on my own I ride in the middle of the road like I own it, because I do!

You have just explained to me why my cycle season starts after Sani and ends with Karoo2Coast of maybe Crater Cruise at a push.

Winter is just such a great time to ride. By mid October I have had enough.

Hello Muddy.

You should be a writer, and leave cycling alone.

I have a few problems with your comments ....

"This Saturday I'm cut off when I cross a green light by a large cycle lab group jumping the red without any hesitation."

A whole group of cyclists will jump a red, if instructed safely by a road safety marshall.

I have never jumped a red robot as a group, in 2 years of cycling.

This is definitely not what the club stands for.

Do you speak for CL?  Then say so, and in what capacity.

"but on the gravel since I'm on a MTB on my way to Groenies. I pass the whole group and a few hundred meters further on I'm forced back into the yellow line when the ride-able gravel ended"

Do you mean that you were on the gravel on an MTB, and "forced back" into the yellow line, without checking behind you if a faster road group was approaching?

He stopped at a Red light - NOBODY is required to check who is behind them and what they are getting up to when approaching a red light.  Its the Law, you STOP

"There was one particularly verbal individual"

I will not comment on individual comments, albeit you attack CL as a group.

your point?

" the big boned chick "

This comment of yours classifies you as mentally and intellectually weak.

Its a comment mad in jest, to lighten the thread, and add levity.  Look up "Humour".  Personal attacks on posters are covered in Hub posting rules

Oh, and you are also physically weak, the fact that you need to ride on the gravel bordering the road, and "forced into" the road indicates this.

Go and find some real off road single paths, instead of specifically targeting road groups.

Why get personal and attacking - is this really necessary?  See comment above on personal attacks on posters

Andrew does a sterling job in promoting all forms of cycling in this country.

The club abides by a strict set of rules, that ensures everyone (groups) has fun during rides, and ensures safety.

Again, in what capacity and/or with what expertise are you making these statements?  Seem to be quite a CL specialist?  Have you been out to the cradle on a weekend?

This is the sort of reply that drags things down into personal exchanges.  Quite unnecessary.  Smells like someone who works at CL

This weekend I rode with two different groups in two different areas (not CL)

Same MO for both, rolling through the Red Lights.

Luckily I suck wheel at the back so by the time I get to the light its green

Each cycle jersey should be individually numbered and registered at the time of purchase ..... if you have 10 tops, well you end up with 10 numbers or make arrangements for a special order with the numbers to be the same.

Number should be large enough and placed clearly to be read by the general public.

If you sell the jersey or give it to another, it is your responsibility to change the registration.

The above will help in controlling rouge riders and assist clubs in disciplining these riders and thereby, hopefully keep their image and the cycling community's image clean.

HAHA coffee all over the keyboard.....

Oh please do! and make sure you don't edit out the all the other cyclists who jump robots, ride 4 abreast, pass when it isn't safe to do so, don't wear helmets, stop in the middle of the yellow lane to ensure that no-one can get round, drop gu/goo/whatever packets on the the road, ride the wrong way up the mountain bike path, shout abuse at other riders passing because they feel they have the right to own the road etc etc etc!. Hell I'm sick to death of people constantly lambasting Cyclelab! yes I do ride with them, Yes I do marshal for them, yes I do my damndest to keep people in line, yes I take it as a personal affront when people keep knocking the club because they saw someone doing something wrong. Why don't we open a thread where we can post every single jersey that we see that does something wrong road. There isn't a single club or group that hasn't at one stage or another broken cycling rules. No-one is that good! The difference is, I try, we try, the club really does try to get people to ride safely and as correctly as possible. No I don't work for them, I just try enjoy my rides on a weekend! And yes, I do shout out when other riders go through the red robot, cause sure as your grandma sucks eggs, someone will blame cyclelab on Monday.

Someone please answer this for me as I am not aware if it is done or not!

When you join a cycling club/ or rather a road cycling club, Do you get papers that you sign stating rules and regulations  expected behavior of the club and its members?

Are the rules of the road on this paperwork? If not Then at least a single page stating road behavior and etiquette should be handed out and signed etc etc etc.

Surely there are individuals on these group rides that can be educated or even better have another group where they can all be shown x y z.

When you join a road cycling club the first that happens they show you the culture....

which includes

droppign your sorry ass on the first ride

didn't work...?

then you feel strong enough to voice ideas. and everyone goes "i think we got a live one here boys..."

before you know you running red lights and doing epo
