have to agree!

Bonus, did you do a language course before you went over ?

We did Slowbee - a once a week, 10 week course, but it wasn't nearly enough!

But . . . . Part of our Mission Statement (for want of a better phrase) includes providing a safe, secure and friendly base where English speaking (and Afrikaans speaking!) people can come and ride awesome trails or road ride awesome mountain passes, without having to worry about the language barrier. I've ridden all over the place, here and in SA and so I know what, as a cyclist, you need to "make it all work".

Someone to show you around or at least point you in the right direction. Somewhere to clean your bike after a ride, a few tools and a workstand for basic maintenance, some spare parts and consumables, somewhere to wash your kit. Pasta for dinner! These are all part of the overall package we want to be able to offer people who come and stay with the aim of riding.

If you can speak English, or praat Afrikaans, you'll be fine! Rather worry about your fitness level - the mountains take no prisoners!

(ok there are easier rides as well, but the mountain thing sounds so cool!)

Bonus.

Amazing! It really looks amazing. Gee, I really hope you make your dream happen. Guarenteed you'll get a steady stream of hubbers through there.

I really hope so - apart from anything else it will help Wendy with the homesickness I know she's gonna have, to hear a friendly tongue!

Damn! Looking through these pics I want to "like them" myself!

And the real thing is bigger, better and more awesome than a pic could ever be.

But today we are in Paris and heading to the Palace of Versailles for the day before getting the tunnel train back to the UK this evening. Riding will have to wait! :-(

Na not worries about coming on holiday. Just exploring the option of maybe being neighbours ;)

Then you need to be fluent in Spanish. We were warned the same before we started this but we were a bit slack. We're going to do a couple of hours a day together once we get back to SA. It's non negotiable - most (not all of course) people here just don't speak English.

We're flying back to SA next week and I'll be there for a little while sorting things out. Will ride for sure - couldn't leave without saying goodbye mate! Remember, I'm the "nicest Speacialized Rider your buddy had ever met" lol

I'm in Durbs until the 7th July but I'm up for Northerns or the Spruit any time after that.

Oh, and "nicest Specialised rider" is a relative term...

Last few days in the UK now before we head back to SA. Once we're back we can start wrapping up our affairs. . . . .

We have found some properties we're interested in and we've started the ball rolling with regards to making offers etc. we have some paperwork to sort out in SA before we can proceed too far but shouldn't be a big problem.

We don't need to sell our house in SA before we can start to buy in Spain or start the renovations, which makes life very much easier. We will need to sell before we can finish the renovations though. Hopefully the timing will all fall into place with a bit of planning. Moves NEVER go completely smoothly, and I'm sure moves overseas have even more that can go wrong with them, but we will manage I'm sure . . . . .

Doing a bit of forward planning this eve. Comparing prices between various methods of getting our belongings to Spain.

Options include shipping direct to Spain. Shipping to the UK and then van-ing stuff to Spain ourselves. Selling up here and re-buying in Spain etc

Doesn't look particularly cheap, whichever way you cut it :-(

Any recommendations SAGeko?
