Bonus Posted July 28, 2015 Share From The Guardian. Chris Froome is refusing to rule out a tilt at this year’s Vuelta a España. The Tour of Spain begins in Puerto Banus on 22 August, which means Froome will need to make a decision regarding his participation in the coming days. Having endured no end of brickbats and insinuation en route to his gruelling victory in France the cyclist could be forgiven for deciding to enjoy a break from cycling. But he is clearly tempted by the prospect of becoming only the third rider after Jacques Anquetil and Bernard Hinault to pull off the Tour and Vuelta double. “I would say it’s a bit early to say 100% but I think that could potentially be on the cards, certainly,” said Froome upon his return to London. “I know it would be a massive challenge to back it up with another grand tour now, especially to go there with the aim of going for the general classification again. But yeah, that’s at the back of the mind and maybe that could be on the cards.”
Pah Bear Posted July 28, 2015 Share Only he knows if he has a real chance at pulling it off. Just looked at Bertie's performance looking for a double and "blowoutttt!!!". So, will have my fingers crossed if he should decide. On the up side is that he'll probably race against the same guys who all did the TdF as favourites again, so ... anything can happen. As long as it's only the riders and not the b^&*^y crowd to contend with again. Licken my chops. Bonus

jimmycool Posted July 29, 2015 Share And if the Dawg wins it then he will be permanently branded for life as a doper by the media as well as some here on the hub. skipperw
Bonus Posted July 29, 2015 Share I'm not sure what the recovery rate is for a pro cyclist. But if Froome "died a thousand deaths" on Alpe d'Huez, then yes, doing well in the Vuelta may look just too suspicious. Are there any top riders who skipped the Tour in favor of the Vuelta?
