Any thoughts on this. I think it would be nice if PPA really went big and opened the day up to solo riders. Imagine 3000+ riders out on the course.

Interesting why no one has launched a 200km solo road race, I think it would be popular.

PPA One Tonner in October which is 160km is about the closest you would get, always a nice challenge.

I don't like it, I think the team aspect is what makes the DC different. But I agree, a 200km road race will be good. Even though it will always turn into a wheelsucking fest after the first 100km.

You don't have to imagine, those are the numbers already on the road on the day!

The major problem with longer distance events and the traditional solo start is that its too long, by the time the last, slow person starts, they will be arriving in the early evening.

You cannot start solo riders in groups in reverse order as it will turn into complete chaos.

I think the One tonner is probably the only feasible way to get that many solo starters out on course and back in a day without ridiculous road closures.

Pure Savage always creates a few solo riders at the DC every year at about the 180km anyway.... 6 to be exact    :whistling:
