As Jewbacca said to me this morning, Dot watching is both boring and addictive as hell. He's currently 2nd, 100m behind the leader and they have opened up a gap of almost 2km on the third place runner. BUUUUUT its still a long way to go.

Wait, whats happening?

Quite unbelievable. That is one very impressive record. Almost leaves one feeling a little suspicious which I know is not right. But who knows what was or wasn't happening as far as doping controls etc in the mid 90's.

On a side note I can't say I'm a fan of the pacing lights. Haven't been since they've been introduced. Perhaps if they were only visible to the tv viewer that would be great. But the athletes should not have access to them in racing. Training with them no problem.

Yes.. I'm not a fan of them being accessible to the runner either. It's great for us

There's always been doubt about his record.. But I think the 3000m is more for the middle distance track specialists. The only runners to get below or in and around 7:25 are Komen, Morceli and Gerrouj. All 1500m specialists

Took me about 30 minutes last night to find out how to watch it/what time and it had already been run.

the amazing thing is that all these middle distance records are getting heat now from the nike shoes clearly making a gain, but this one will need something very special

And the top level track Nike's weren't considered legal!

He's running a 200 miler.

Tracker - https://tracking.sportraxs.com/m/264/531/leaderboard

I can't even imagine the head-work needed for something like that (200 miler) ....

I at last qualified for the Comrades last year doing the Peninsula Marathon, but then the Comrades never happened. In December I suffered a serious stress fracture of the 4th metatarsal doing a trail run, and it's taken me a while to recover. I've been cycling the last few months to get/keep my fitness up whilst allowing the foot to just heal a bit more. Last week I did a first 5K. It's difficult not to push to hard knowing where I want to be, and what I did before.....

Take the time to heal up properly and you'll be back soon. Don't do what i do and end up injured again by rushing it.

Mac Mac 200 - Ruan vd Merwe leading at half way, 100 miles in 27:41.

I see he won the 100 miler race 2 years ago in 23:54. His time today would have been good enough for 5th overall back then, which means he's moving really well I reckon.

Our man is through 125kms in 28 hours. He did 33:30 for the 100 mile in 2019 so looks like he's also going really well.

Seems of the 8 runners still taking part, runners 4 through 7 (4 runners in total) are all at 151.4km at a checkpoint in Pilgrims Rest. 42 hours in and around halfway.

Our guy is part of this group. I hope everyone continues on....

Dirk & Lafras have also withdrawn but more worryingly, our man is carrying an injury he picked up on the first night (Wednesday evening), he stepped into a hole and hyperextended his knee which has caused swelling as well as discomfort in the muscles at the back of the knee. HOWEVER he is taking it one step at a time and aiming to get through the next cut off which is at 47 hours.
