JXV Posted October 17, 2015 Share Hi Did a lowers service today on a 2nd hand reba (2011 spec, RL , dual air) that a friend bought off the hub. The fork is in very good nick but the foam rings were virtually dry and little oil inside. One of the foam rings had been pinched under the wiper seal on assembly and was damaged so I could not re-use it. Second issue... my LBS gave me a Rockshox kit with 5mm foam rings but the shock had 10mm foam rings fitted and a 10mm deep space. I gather there were a few different seal/wiper setups on these forks over the years . So I soaked and fitted the new 5mm foam rings into the 10mm space. Is this going to be OK? brussel Posted October 17, 2015 Share Should be fine, they are there to keep a little oil to lube the wiper seals.I've even used a broken one till I could get more, I had no problems JXV
droo Posted October 19, 2015 Share Not ideal, but it's unlikely to break anything. The foam rings are there to catch any dirt that gets in through the seals, and the 5mm ones will serve that purpose fine. You can buy foam rings separately if it bothers you. JXV
