Put this on the 'Where has your bike taken you' thread the other day, but it belongs here. Groot Winterhoek. Took my 12 year old son along. 32km over 2 days and not a single complaint. He even insisted on carrying the heavy back-pack the whole of the last day. Really lekker to share this type of experience with your kids.

I am just amazed how hiking has taken off in SA.Since Covid the trails are packed and unfortunately so is the rubbish left behind by the masses.Anything in day trip size is inundated.I wonder if it will fade or is it here to stay?

Did the Wolfberg Arch this weekend again, up through the 'Narrow crack', and down via the 'Wide crack', and slept over at the Arch.

Was an excellent weekend, the hike was pretty busy, not seen as many sleeping over at the Arch before. We had a moonless clear evening sky - with a breathtaking view of the Milky Way.

Did the customary dip at Maalgat afterwards .... the water was little chilly though.

Awesome to have the Cederberg so close to Cpt. :)

Getting very busy at the arch lately! I ran past the arch recently three parties had overnighted there the previous night. I was so P'd off to find that one party had lit a lit a fire overnight and had left a pile of warm coals. Fortunately for them, they had already left when I got there! One of the other parties had actually questioned whether it was legal to light a fire, with no luck. Some people just don't get it.

Same ... I was surprised when I got to the Arch ... I could see the remnants of a large bonfire, with the side of one of the large boulders blacked completely? You would think the memory of having the Arch closed to the public for so long would have had some influence .... eish?
