Mavic Alpine shoe stockists

So I bought a pair from Buycycle. Ordered them in a UK7. The same as all my other shoes.

They arrived quickly. I loved them the moment I opened the box but when I fit them on they were too tight.

Not the kind of tight you're confident enough will stretch out either. I had to return them.

Did some digging and according to some user reviews on CRC. Ordering one size bigger is recommended when taking these Mavics. Wish I read that before I ordered.

Nevertheless. Despite the superb service I got from Buycycle. From the prompt communication and how easily they accommodated me with regards to returning the shoe. They were unable to source a size UK8 elsewhere. (Thank you Ashley, I appreciate the effort)

So I'm hoping that some local Mavic stockist has these shoes in a UK8 somewhere.

Its a long shot. But I'm not ready to give up on them and consider alternatives just yet.

I was looking at getting the same shoes (I'm also a 7), but after your post I think I'll have to skip... I need something I can walk in comfortably...

Sorry, I can't help you with a local stockist

I know you tried dragon sports right.

Cant say  I would know anyone else who might have stock apart from calling around.

Bridge cycles, Olympic, Crown, Freewheel Cycology, trail and tar maybe

Cycle teknix, Cycle lab and maybe williams bike shop.

Otherwise maybe try the specialised 2fo

Don't know where you are based, but Hot Spot Cycles (Pta East) has a large variety of Mavics in stock; don't know if they have this though.

all Mavic's are small and narrow...

You can also try Cyclesphere in Durban if you don't come right in CPT. They have a wide range of Mavic shoes.

I have it on good authority that the 2FO's don't have the expected durability of a gravity riding shoe. I've looked at giros, northwaves, shimanos and 5tens.

The Mavics were priced well and fitted the bill for what I wanted.

No arkwardly lugged soles so ideal for hike a bike situations.

No ratchets or funny unnecessarily complicated closure systems I could potentially break.

Just good old fashioned laces and a velcro strap to keep things in check.

When I got them the soles were stiff and seemed well made and durable enough for AM riding. Somebody somewhere must have a UK8. I'm going to try some of the stores suggested here.

If I don't come right in a few days I'll start looking for alternatives.

This looks like a good one.

But I don't want to go through the sizing postage returning drama unless I can fit them on too.

SW Tokai has a pair of these in size 8... Giro Rumble, they're called. I just checked online and they show as having stock. Worth a try..

Benreaper posted in another thread that his lbs had a pair , don't know what size though.

Yea already chatted to him.

They don't have an 8 in this one though

And if you can get the sizing right, CRC are having a sale on their shoes at the moment.

Just remember to add 40% duty, VAT & shipping.

That's the thing. I would order from them if the sizing thing I was sure about sizing.

Northwave is a wider fit and recommend taking one size smaller.

That's enough discouragement for to stay away alltogether.

Besides, I prefer buying from local shops anyways.
