Second hand Hybrid?

go4

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I am looking to buy a second hand bike that can do the Argus and some casual trails?

Not sure if this is the right place? I haven't been on a bike for more than 10 years and I want to get back into it now. Would you recommend getting something second hand or is it better to buy brand new?

Budget = <10k

Thanks!

From what you say it sounds like youa re looking for something like an adventure bike like this:

[post=https://www.giant-bicycles.com/za/bikes-anyroad]Giant Anyroad[/post]

That isnt too much above yoru price range ans clearly second hand would be chaper, but I think you would have diffiiculty finding one secondhand as most people buy MTB's or road bikes, but you may get lucky.

Another option would be a good second hand MTB and put some slicks on.

Hybrids are not and have never been very popular in this country.  The second hand ones tend to be a bit dated (8 speed groupsets) and new ones expensive with poor resale value. Your choice is limited.

Thank for the advice guys. I am looking at this one currently:

  • Frame: 29” Butted 6061 Aluminium, Tapered 1⅛” – 1.5” Headtube
  • Fork: Suntour XCM HLO, 100mm Travel, Hydraulic Lockout
  • Shock: NA
  • Shifters: Shimano Altus SL-M310, 3 x 8 Trigger
  • Derailleurs: Front NA | Rear: Shimano Acera
  • Brakes: Tektro Hydraulic
  • Rims: Alex MD17, 32H
  • Hubs: QR Alloy, 32 Hole, 6 Bolt Disc Mount
  • Tyres: Maxxis Sphinx, 29″ x 2.1, 27TPI

the silverback is not second hand ..ok bike

the giant is the better spec bike but quite expensive for a used unknown bike

why don't you go into a few bike dealers and see what they have if you want to spend that much money? you may find something more to your taste if you look around in the dealers.

shopping in a bike shop isn't an obligation to buy its just a window shopping exercise ..and you learn whats what and what costs what and sometimes why and in some you get a coffee too ^_^

Giant has some bikes at decent prices

Finding some Pre Loved models is another story

Giant Anyroad is an excellent choice if you can find one at the moment!

Have a look at the Giant FastRoad as well. More road orientated but with some fat tyres, its a good way to go as well

Depending on the size of frame that you need, this might catch your attention too

Fuji Absolute 1.3 Disc
