Stages vs 4iiii?

Would you buy a Stages power crank or a 4iiii power crank for R2500 less?

 

I can get a stages for R14500 or a 4iiii for R11000.

 

Should I buy the 4iiii?

 

Both are Dura ace crank arms.

Ask Cwc about Stages. They sold DA versions for around R9500 a few weeks ago.

Yup, other than bragging rights the numbers dont arent as big a deal as consistency is.

For that amount of money spent...I would rather then use hrt...that's just me

Variable Accuracy of Wearable Heart Rate Monitors during Aerobic Exercise

 

Results: Across all exercise conditions, the chest strap monitor (Polar H7) had the best agreement with ECG (rc=.996) followed by the Apple Watch (rc=.92), the TomTom Spark (rc=.83) and Garmin Forerunner (rc=.81). The Scosche Rhythm+ and Fitbit Blaze were less accurate (rc=.75 and rc=.67, respectively). On treadmill, all devices performed well (rc=.88-.93) except the Fitbit Blaze (rc=.76). While bicycling, only the Garmin, Apple Watch and Scosche Rhythm+ had acceptable agreement (rc>.80). On the elliptical trainer without arm levers, only the Apple Watch was accurate (rc=.94). None of the devices was accurate during elliptical trainer use with arm levers (all rc < .80).

Conclusion: The accuracy of wearable, optically based HR monitors varies with exercise type and is greatest on the treadmill and lowest on elliptical trainer. Electrode-containing chest monitors should be used when accurate HR measurement is imperative.

I have used HR based training for 10 years as an Elite road racer.

I have been using power meters since 2012.

 

My training hours have come down. 

Training has been more specific.  More concentrated.  Better quality.

I am fitter and stronger than what I was with less hours spent on the bike.

 

Yes, there are lots of variables. 

 

I am very glad I train with a power meter and not with hr anymore.

 

If I had R20k for a set of wheels or a PM, I'd go for the PM.

 

But that's just me.

thats great. you seeing improvement...you will see better improvement if you combine the power with Hrt ......thats me. :thumbup:
