Sorry for a silly questions, but does the SRAM GX fall in the same range as Shimano XT? Never really looked at SRAM because all my bikes so far have come with Shimano.

Personally I think it's pitched at the same level but usually SRAM is a bit more pricey. Having just upgraded both bike to 11sp (one with GX and the other with XT) I'd have to say I think XT is a nicer set up. I want to like Sram more for the innovation, the fact it looks pretty porno and the solid clunk of that paddle like shifter. Unfortunately the multiple gear shifting of the XT and the perfect positioning / set up of the shifter levers and no fuss, smoothing, crisp shifting on the Shimano just nail it 100%.

Obviously the jump to 12sp and the very competitive pricing is bluring where it sits but XT group sets come with a lot more that the Sram drivetrain based ones do.

R6600 @ CRC for the Full Eagle set (cranks, chain, shifter, cassette)

R4624 @ CRC for the same XT set up as the Eagle (cranks, chain, shifter, cassette)

R7200 @ CRC gets you an full XT groupset with brakes, BB and the rest

After many years of avoiding the 1x movement and being an avid Shimano supporter. I took the delivery of the GX Eagle on Friday morning. Timing was perfect as my beloved 2x10 XT groupset was well aged. I have only taken the bike out for a single spin since fitting the new groupset, but my initial assessment is that I am very happy with the change.

Comparing ratios to that of my trusty 2x10, the 34T matched with 10-50T does have fractionally less top and bottom end, but close enough for my liking.

36T chainring (min.) for Eagle.

I bought Eagle the day they we're availible here in SA.What can I say.saw the gold bling and lost the plot.Been riding it ever since.

I'm still not 100% sure it's the way to go.Currently riding 34 front and 10/50 rear.

When my cluster is toast I'll be going to ethirteen 9-46 with a 32 oval in front.

This is a far better, cheaper and lighter option than eagle in my opinion.

I'll just keep the 12 speed eagle shifter and derailer( don't see why it shouldn't work)my 2C

or go buy A pinion gearbox and belt drive ....18 gears 800% range

I have wet dreams about bikes with gearboxes

Rohloff = 14spd. 0,001% of the maintenance. But the pricetag and weight is not too lekker!

The E Thirteen 9-46 cassette is only 11 speed whereas the Eagle shifter and derailleur are 12 speed.

I currently run xtr 2/10 ,if I go the gx route will my sram crank take an oval blade and is there a weight saving compared to the 2/10

The eagle is just to expensive

Interesting read, but how do you find the gear ratios?

Would love to see how good the longevity will be on the GX Eagle.
