ASG you may as well give up now if they think insane pricing works as well in store as it does online. In store prices work because some people have enough money to virtually not care what things cost as long as its conveniently there in a local bike shop on the way home from work/during lunchbreak or Sat morning.

As many have mentioned shopping online is different, convenience is universal and shopping around is as easy as a quick Google search or check on Cwc, worth the R1000+ savings on the identical set of Slx brakes.

Most people that shop online are also pretty sharp in terms of prices, they won't take high pricing on the chin, they just go where it's cheaper, a few mouse clicks away.

And nobody has got time for ASG points bs to get a slim savings on ridiculously high prices, screw that rather just shop where the prices are significantly cheaper in the first place, no brainer.

But who knows, a sucker is born everyday, maybe ASG has enough brand cachet to keep a webshop ticking over, once it's set up it's not like a webshop has high overheads to contend with.

Some very positive feedback...We received great service on my wife's bike and my own for for good value on the comprehensive service offering. We've also subsequently purchased demo bikes under retail and we are super stoked with the value. These included a set of Fulcrum Zeros for R8000, tyres (Corsa) included. We've also discovered great value with HiGH5 box nutrition options especially the trial packs and have become our race staples. Also Rudy Projects combo deal, Tralyx and Spinhawk eyewear sets are at a great discount offering excellent value, we purchased 3 sets. None of the offerings we engaged and purchased were found at any other stores at better pricing. Looking forward to keeping an eye to see more brands and offerings.

You don't launch a store, online or brick and mortar, by quoting way over priced prices with the comment or viewpoint of offering specials later down the line.

Customers are neither patient nor stupid.

They will give you a chance from the get go- and that's where you need to impress them. Later on will never happen as you will not even be thought of as an option when compared to existing stores with great service and very competitive pricing already being offered.

Rather focus on a niche market or range and do that 110% better than anyone else.

I signed up. I have 50 points now....

I think you should find a niche target early on. Suggest Gravel grinding and road disc.

Hi Talus

I'm doing the bonus points manually, we had a few more than 20 that took me up on the offer - but hey, I'll do another 20 this morning for you... that should cover everyone that signed up last night plus a few more guys if they jump in early this morning.

You can get another 50 points by signing up for the newsletter - that's where you'll get the most use out of your points  ^_^

Hopefully I jumped in early enough.?

Other Hubbers all made very valid points regarding price, service etc but I'm willing to give this a chance and see how it goes.

Thx. (for the 1000 points)

Yeah, R1199 vs R699

Eina... At least you get 5 ASG points...

It's like the R200 off when you buy BF Goodridge tyres for R4000

Love how ASG sidestep all questions regarding why they are more expensive than other stores.

i feel this thread might do more damage than good to ASG

I see them as competition to Specialised ... or at least in the same market segment .....

Differences in "bike" prices could be dealt with on this premise ....

dont know how one explains away price differences on "parts/components" .... and here I agree with you.  Getting into a price war on these items may well do more damage .....  I KNOW that I have stopped going to a particular store due to how they deal with their prices .....
