Bike Hub Site Updates: Change log

Recommended Posts

Hi Hubbers,

Over the past few weeks we've been rolling out incremental updates across the site and we'll be continuing with this in the coming months. This thread will serve as a change log to keep you posted on what has changed.

Coming up

  • Improved mobile UI & UX for Classifieds (searching and filtering via mobile site)

Change log

17 August 2017
SnapScan Integration
You can now pay for Classified ad upgrades & listings using SnapScan.

16 August 2017
Classifieds search and filter function
When searching and filtering in the Classifieds section any search keywords and filter criteria would be persisted for your session. This created difficulty when running multiple concurrent searches and generally resulted in unexpected behaviour.

Filter parameters are now URL based to improve usability to better support concurrent searches and generate sharable search URLs.

11 August 2017
Updated global site search panel
A new, more reliable drop down search panel replaces the previously fidgety dropdown window which would disappear when in use.

2 August 2017
Classifieds search improvements
We've added a keyword attribute to enhance filtering within the Classifieds section and integrated this with Search for Classifieds.

You can now search via keyword and filter by category, location, price, etc. within the same section. Previously a keyword based search in Classifieds took you to the generic site search feature which meant all filtering capabilities were lost.

31 July 2017
Classifieds management & advert page updates
We've improved the user interface in the Manage classifieds area to make it easier to manage your adverts. Additionally, when viewing your adverts you'll see a management bar at the top of the ad to easily edit or remove the ad.

when using the search tool (mag glas in the header) to find a specific product in the classifieds, it applies that search word to all subsequent tabs opened ie. when trying to view the next page in the "view all ads" classifieds section.

Also the jump to page feature is not working in the "view all ads" classified section

Thanks for the feedback

We have noted the search keyword "stickiness" issue ourselves and are working on an improvement whereby the search criteria will be url based which would support multiple concurrent searches on different tabs.

Regarding the jump to page feature, this is a general bug which will be addressed asap.

Change is good, but the search function has now become frustrating.

The automatic memory function in the search function was designed by Satan himself.

When using both your PC and mobile to view the site it remembers which view you chose last and sets the view to that - instead of defaulting to Desktop view on PC and mobile view on phone

Both of these issues have now been addressed.

Search keywords and filters are specific to the current page / URL and will not persist across tabs.

and, if the framework allows for it, to have only the first notification for topic post replies appear in the notification section

As if you have commented on a few topics and there have been many replies to those topics, then some of the "lower down" notifications can easily be missed

basically all you need is one notice per topic to show activity in it

I'll look into what's possible - this would be a sensible approach.

The forum platform is due for an upgrade to the next major point version which will bring many improvements, but that update is only due for late 2017 / early 2018.

Search gets "cleared" now if you attempt to list by price after initial search

Thanks for reporting

This has been fixed.

Not sure if this has been reported but if you click on the search function and try and search for say "Colnago" in classifieds then the search ignores you and just opens latest ads.
