Can we wrap this up please? Ftiday is coming and we have to discuss the 'pomp' thing. Maybe someone who carries a saddle bag should start a thread on what size bag to carry, what to carry, and excuses for carrying it.

Dont need a new thread, plenty of excuses right here.

This attempt at a Friday thread is lamer than the saddlebags themselves.

You mean this Friday thread Patch?

Who knew the ball baggie was such an emotive issue? Wowsers.

There will always be that other under cover mtb that brings a trunk full of spares, just use his if you puncture.

Ok so on the topic of scrotum....a saddle bag is cool as long as it is not overly huge and flapping around like a bull's happy ball sack on his way to mount a fair cow  .

Like everything else there are a few do's and don'ts!

Select the appropriate size for your bike and needs and mount it securely so it does not sway around and make hideous noises as it bangs everything around it... the mounting straps will also start to rub the paint and/or carbon if not tight!

Make sure that the contents are tightly packed too so your tool and tyre levers don't rattle and potentially cut into your spare tube.

LARGE bag, with zip to extend it to be even larger ....

29'' tube

20'' tube

tire levers

gas bombs

gas bomb adaptor

spare valve inserts (after helping somebody whose valve insert got clogged...)

valve insert tool

chain quick link x2 (for my bike and for Maritz' bike)

multi-tool

also a small pump on the bike

Then a full tool kit with lots more extra stuff in the car.

I DONT like riding without the saddle bag .... feel too exposed .....

And yet I dont take a cell phone along ....

I always run like this on my morning 30 km Spruit ride but from your list I seem to have left some stuff out.

From tomorrow I will additionally pack a small Camelbak to carry the excess.

The day I start worrying what others think of my unshaven legs, saddle bag and what socks I'm wearing is the day i realize cyclists are a bunch fashion prima donna's. If it offends you then either overtake or fall back.
