FDP Posted February 4, 2018 Share So what does everyone carry to repair tubeless tyres out on the trails? There are many new products on the market for tubess repairs, yet I find that some people will never let go of the spare tube as a backup. What works? What not? PS: I tried to search, but only very old posts came up.
HowardSteele Posted February 4, 2018 Share Bombs bomb connector ,brown worms ..worm tool.and a tube on long trails.I have had valve seating issues on flats on two occasions and have had to put in tubes.I've used the brown worms on bigger holes out on the trails (a 4 inch nail)just remember to have it ready so when you pull out the sharp object you can stick it in.Or get sprayed with a stream of sealant like i did on my first attempt. On the !Khwa ttu trail on the west coast i had so many thorns in the tires that got ripped out on the mesh on the little fence bridges that i eventually ran out of sealant in the tires so on that trail i'll actually carry spare sealant. Martin PJ Posted February 4, 2018 Share Mostly I don't carry tubes. Check your sealant levels often, especially before important races. I carry big plug strips, plain plug tool, very small screw driver to make the hole bigger if it is small and a blade to trim the plug ends. There are thin plug strips which often come with the plug tool. These are not very good.
Martin PJ Posted February 4, 2018 Share Also carry a lot of 12 gram CO2 bombs with the adapter. At least 4. I don't like the big CO2 bombs, they are expensive and you never need the whole thing. Sepia

FDP Posted February 4, 2018 Share Great. Seems most prefer CO2 over pumps. Anyone use any of the Dynaplug solutions?
Meentb Posted February 4, 2018 Share 2 Bombs. 1 adapter. And a small hand pump as a last resort. Also carry a tube. But my tyres are so filled with thorns i would just waste a good tube. I ise the Sahmurai kit. Never failed me. Plugs are bloody thick and cam be difficult to get in. But they’ve always worked. Ive even had two in a sidewall cut. Got me to the nearest garage to try and fix it properly.

scotty Posted February 4, 2018 Share 2 x Bomb, adapter, worm fork, 2 small 1 large worm and mushroom plug. Only recently added the mushroom plug after seeing a demo where the sidewall was sliced open and the plug used to cover it.
Mojoman Posted February 4, 2018 Share 2 x bombs, those worm things and the insertion tool (although I could only find the fat ones, I prefer the thinner worms), pump and a spare tube. I carry a pump after my CO2 inflator unit fell apart in my hands and I wound up stranded! The tube is for me or anyone else who needs it on a ride. I check sealant every 2 or 3 weeks. Can pretty much hear it when you spin the wheels.
dasilvarsa Posted February 4, 2018 Share off topic (not tubeless) I use original slime tubes (self seals 90% of punctures except on sidewall and glass punctures) I carry a very small pump, 4 patches and a brand new small tube of glue.
