Returning to the MTB scene

I've been riding on and (mostly) off the last two years with an injury to the radial nerve in my hand, but have decided to make a proper comeback to the sport. My idea is to do some stage races and the regular stuff.

I'm still riding my Bianchi Jab but want to upgrade and am not 100% what to look at.

 

I'm about 80:20 towards Full suspension versus another Hardtail.

 

I've got my eye on a Scott RC900 Comp, which I can pick up for R37k or so.

What else in that price range will be a good idea? I'm looking for 1x12 specifically.

 

I see that the Scott is about 12.4kg... it's certainly a bit lighter than my Bianchi (about 13 and change I think).

 

My budget is about R40k but I still need to do tubeless and pedals then.

2018 Specialized Epic Comp. Is a 1x12 GX Eagle and weighs in at about 12Kg. Should manage stage races in a breeze.

I'd get the new Giant Anthem
