For the aviation fans

Whenever I ride past Lanseria it's a sure bet that I'll stop and watch if I see planes on approach. Nothing more interesting than being under the flight path of an incoming 737.

So I think this place would do my head in, completely.

For those interested in WW2 aircrafts... my father in law's FB page. He owns a rather large collection of planes which he has restored to original condition, and all of which he flies on a regular basis. The FB page features some of them and interesting bits and pieces.

His collection includes:

- Dragonfly Rapide

- Tigermoth

- Auster

- Fairlady

- And others I do not remember the names of!

About time this site added an aviation fan thread. Well done. Im the kinda guy who even if sitting at home (fourways) will walk outside to see what / who is flying over. I have a mild obsession with airplanes and am fortunate to be able to fly one or two.

Mach loop (top video) is a bucket list item for me. They train the RAF and a few others low flying skills. Must be MIND BLOWING to sit and watch the variety of metal both heavy and light that comes blasting through there. I do think I would need a few extra trousers and not because I pooped myself.. :):)

Thanks for sharing.

where does he hanger these GM ?

He is in Queenstown in the Eastern Cape. Relatively small airfield with a single hanger. He is quite involved with the club there.

Somewhere in 2005-2006 whilst with a friend of mine at Virginia airfield, one of these were just unpacked and assembled in the hanger at the south end of the runway...

Hawker Sea Fury, she was in British colours and the cool mechanic allowed me onto the steps to peer into the cockpit. I must've walked around that bird for 50 laps, I just could not get enough of it.

i wonder who might be owner as it was an airworthy frame?
