I think it was an awesome event .

As a team we decided to finish with all 12 together . We were a mixed team .

We did this and our time was 5h35 .

Those 2 climbs in Golden Gate were brutal but very rewarding once over the top .

Awesome time for a mixed team! The golden gate climb broke me and I cramped up. Not fun on a 39/25 after a hard first half effort. Just glad I did not get off and walked????

Limped home in 5h14. Will definitely be back with more miles in the legs.

I have a better plan... I have never had a better reason to buy a new Ultegra R8000 group with semi compact crank...

Yeah there’s only a few things worse than blowing up under a mushroom cloud on a climb after looking down in desperation to find out you are already in your lowest gear ⚠️

Nice report. You do realise that there was 15 minute timeout for the pitstop, so need to rush. But then, being the first team on the road is also an advantage.

We stopped for longer the first time we did this event (2016), and felt that a long stop wasn’t ideal. 5-mins was the goal knowing that 10 was the absolute max.

On another note:

We also mostly rotated on a double paceline, compared to other teams using a single line. When we did try it, we failed miserably... we certainly need practice on the single paceline - many of us spent too long on he front.

Yip. Lessons learnt???? And no cramp block/rennies/anything helps if you still need to grind out the hills. Just pain awaits

We managed to keep the double paceline going untill the gg climbs started. Constant rolling through by all 12 members. It worked very well, provided all are on a similar fitness level.

It would be interesting if all top women do the women's race rather than the mixed to see how close they could get to the men's team times. But maybe better for them they don't :)

Well done to all finishers!!

I would pay good money to see more ladies only teams, it was fantastic racing. Loved every minute of it. Congrats to Jo for her magnificent climbing result.

We will be back next year too. So much fun to be had.

Jip.  Second that.

An AWESOME event that one can see grow every year.

Good route.  Scenic.  Tough.

The dynamic of finishing all 12 should be encouraged by the organisers with a nice medal or beers all around or something?

Will be back for sure!

yes agree for all 12 to be finish and receive a special medal for team work as this is what these type of race dynamics is about.

Whaha then everybody must ride my speed and they push me up the freaking mountain

hopefully we will also be back next year and race in the mix cat again

I get a certain sense of delight in telling those around me that they are already in their lowest gear when I hear the frantic attempts to shift to an easier gear.

Yes. But the faster you get out of there, the less likely you are to suffer from cold legs. That was our problem in 2016, stood still for too long and found it difficult to get going again.

Why not a 50/34 AND a 11/32?    . I rode with a 11/32T and what a pleasure that was.

By that time we realized we were at the head of the race! A police escort and a motorbike marshal to ourselves.

Pit stop latest approx. 7 minutes (we aimed for 5 minutes), but good organization and speedy changed to clothing and nutrition meant we were first out the gate and had the police escort to ourselves again.

Team 69?
