Finnboy1 Posted February 20, 2019 Share Can anyone explain why Scott has an enduro bike, the Ransom, but the Genius is being punted as the enduro bike of choice for Scott in SA?

Finnboy1 Posted February 20, 2019 Share On the official Scott website the genius is desribed as a trail bike and the ransom is desribed as their enduro bike...
Odinson Posted February 20, 2019 Share Genius = trail bikeRansom = enduro bike It's really the geometry and the travel that distinguish the two. 80% of South African trails are suited to a trail bike, like the Genius. Riding a Ransom on mellow trails, with little technical features is a bit overkill. I guess that's why they market the Genuis more in SA. Mudsimus Posted February 21, 2019 Share I had a Ransom that I used as a downhill bike a few years ago. It was terrible anywhere else.
stefmeister Posted February 21, 2019 Share Ransom too much bike for SA.Too much indeed. Although it would be nice to have, personally, if I'm not the fastest rider out there on that bike I wouldn't want to be seen riding one.

A bike that can be switched to lower travel on the fly for those long pedal days and those heart-wrenching climbs, but let to full hooligan if you're taking on Iron Monkey / Status Quo / Table Mountain / Helderberg etc. I think it's a perfectly suitable bike for anywhere. Unless, of course, you only ride meh-ren-dull.
