Eldron Posted April 9, 2019 Share Every year the thread for this race comes up and every year I have some pangs of sadness - this was one of my favourite races. Emigrating sucks a few times a year :-) suzieQ, RocknRolla, pe3nguin and 2 others

Emigrating sucks a few times a year :-) Ah Eldron. Was wondering what happened to you. Still one my favourite feedback quotes on this forum from 2013s race - "This was a really great event! I was pleasantly surprised actually. There was a good, relaxed vibe and a fun but balanced route. The new singletrack and the school section were the highlights for me.Would have liked to back off a little but Eldron chased me the whole day! Well done to all involved, see you next year." Posted by TimHenman That "pleasantly surprised" feedback was bang on. At my first Delta Dash (ahhh the early years) I expected a "school/church bizarre" style race but the event was really well run and still kept the relaxed/fun atmosphere. The combination of hand made track, urban path and the the school grounds was great fun and made 6 hours go by really quick (apart from trying to catch that Timmy fellow). Well done for growing the event so well over the years! I will have to plan my next trip to SA a bit more carefully :-) suzieQ

Wheelsuck Posted April 12, 2019 Share Being a local its good to see you are starting at 9am-heaven forbid the Parkrunners/Walkers, so hopefully you will not be to inconvenienced with them hopefully and we wont be treated to their rants about cyclists on the local FB Forums-but please just watch out for them they are quite testy. Dont know if you guys are going to use the Jozi trails section from the school side down to the spruit but if you are then you wont want to stop and 6 hours wont be enough for all the fun. Rode it a couple of weeks ago just to get dialed in for Cross Tri champs and had a rip. Oh yes and its raining nicely here since 2pm as we speak so you will get muddy. cat-i and suzieQ
RocknRolla Posted April 13, 2019 Share Once again, the best organised event on the mtb calendar. SuziQ, you deserve so much kudos! Did the 6 hours, managed 14 laps, was aiming for 10. No cramps paced myself nicely taking a break every two laps, with a lunch stop to chow and get the HR down a bit. The treeline section was so much frikken fun. Had two squeaky clean runs with no-one in front, and I couldn't get the grin off my face for the next two laps. Walkers/runners was separated by well placed markers, and the best marshals on any race. Cant believe I missed the last couple of years, not gonna do that again!
