which is the best minipump I've seen in 27 years of riding, so negates the need for a bomb in my opinion (unless you're a pro XC racer, which you're not)

plus if you want to carry a tube

You'd need some pretty bad luck to still get stuck in the mountains with this setup!

If only they ever had stock. EDC is always out of stock

how secure is the multitool to the scewer ? is there a chance of it being knocked off?

Nope none at all.

the l shaped allen key/screw driver bit locks the tool onto the skewer head and it is retained with friction and a black rubber band (a hoop cut from an old inner tube also serves as a replacement).

the body of the tool is the skewer lever so when you need the tool you do loosen the wheel but this hasn;t been an issue for me at all since I'm typically working on the bike at this point so its either standing right side up or upside down  on bars and saddle.

For my road bike it serves the necessary well. I carry Pedro's tyre levers in my back pocket with a spare tube. bombs hang on a bracket on the frame.

Also you don;t have to use the Tulio as a skewer. I sometimes remove it from the skewer and toss it in the back pock as its light and  small,

Did not know the pivot part could be removed. Must check.

I use a reusable cable tie to keep the parts together incase the magnet fails and also use it upside down.

thanks, definitely now on my short list. cost wise it also makes sense for me.

is the EDC stuff really worth the extra cost ?

I've priced getting the pump and the multi tool and you're looking at R2000.

I can do alot of Ubering home for R2000

I do like the sleek design and how the components integrate though.

Not necessarily when you're mountain biking.

Definitely worth it for me. I'm not going to Uber for a flat tire. The least you need for that is a pump. Being annoyed with small, practically useless pumps as it stands, the quality of this pump and the fact I don't have to carry anything in my shirt pocket, makes this absolute perfection for me.

My Crank bros pump = R650

Wolftooth tyre lever with chain storage = R500

Multitool for MTB = R550

Slug plug = R75

I think the oneUp EDC pump + Tool adds up to good value IF it lasts longer than 3 years

I would say it is, especially if you are buying everything from scratch - I did not so am sitting with a bit of a mix between the Spez SWAT stuff that came with my Stumpy and EDC. My current set-up which works lekker (except for the horribly small Spaz multi-tool) is:

- Spez Z cage with SWAT tool attached

- Spez chain tool in steerer tube (with 2 quick links attached)

- One-up EDC pump (70cc) with a 20gram CO2 cartridge inside - the pump is exceptionally well made and has a big volume so pumps mtb tyres nicely, the head also doubles as a CO2 adapter. I prefer the smaller size pump.

- Tube, Ryder Slug Plug, and tyre lever, strapped to the frame using a AMS OS strap.

If I had to buy from scratch the ideal set-up for me would be:

- One-Up EDC system in steerer tube, with the plug and plier kit attached at the bottom.

- One-Up EDC 70cc pump with a 20gr CO2 cartridge inside.

- Tube attached to frame with AMS OS strap (or any other strap for that matter).

That is in my opinion the neatest and most integrated solution out there with the most complete set of tools you will ever need trail side including a chain breaker, master link tool, and tyre lever. It's expensive, but for that level of build quality and integration I will happily pay.
