Simon Kolin Posted August 12, 2019 Share Hi All Does anyone know if the 8 notch removal tool used to remove the lock-ring on the older Shimano XTR cranks is compatible with the lock-ring found on the Cannondale Hollowgram cranks? Both are 8 notch, but I don't have width of the Cannondale version to confirm. Just my luck, they are not.The first image (2 part tool) is for XTR. The second image is for Cannondale. dirtypot Posted August 12, 2019 Share It's Canondale. Of course it'll have it's own proprietary tool. Simon Kolin
Skinnyone Posted August 12, 2019 Share Probably unlikely to be compatible as some of the older Shimano BB's had different size tools between the models...IIRC, XTR/Dura Ace had a deeper tooth/groove than others, so the tool had teeth accordingly. That said, the lock-ring on the XTR spider doesn't need as much engagement as the BB does.
