Cape Town Cycle Tour 2020

Long Wheel Base

Recommended Posts

It was a great day out. Started from 1H and by the time we got to Fishhoek we had caught at least 3 groups in front of us for a CRAZY big bunch. Saw quite big crash happen in the middle of the group about 15m in front of me, guy on MTB moved to the left and the roadie behind had to take evasive action, clipped wheel and dominoes ensued. Had to dodge people and bikes just to get past. The front guys of our group managed to pull a gap through all the traffic of the big bunch, but still managed to hang on for a 2:57 PB finish

Went past Nutty after Smits just as the ambulance stopped on the right hand side, from all the blood on his face it looked very eina   Hope you heal up soon bud!

The hardest part of the Argus was discovering on Nelson Mandela Bvd that, missed in the veil of darkness in the port-a-loo, I only had one strap of my bibshorts in place over my shoulders.

I remember riding a whole race with both bib straps off and sticking out from under my top.

I only discovered this fact at the end when my son pointed it out to me.

What a day!!

PB of 3:42 in the bag, I started in 2H and sat in the groups to the end. Weather was outstanding and the gees well there's nothing like it really.

After I grabbed a coke and water at the end I was on my merry way to finish my training program which meant a little bit more cycling and a 22km run.

@Wannebe good to meet you and great time!

When I was out on my run I heard the thunder and ran through the rain and my thoughts were with the back markers soldiering through the weather.

I spoke to a guy who did it on an e-bike. He used 3 batteries, third one was almost flat. He was super chuffed on his 3:09 time. Do not really understand the reasoning of these riders. Went to the finish afterwards looking at the riders coming in, saw lots of ebike riders in good physical shape.

Heard a rumour you made Sub-3 yesterday 'Dale...

Maybe you inadvertently stumbled upon the secret technique...

Thanks. Have a broken collarbone and facial injuries. Also a cracked skull. Plastic surgery tomorrow to fix the face.

Heal up soon - I was about 20m behind you guys when you went down in what is probably the quickest section of the race! Look after yourself and back on the bike soon

That's me in the orange kit who nearly went down - thanks to the blue bike rider for popping me back upright

Looked like to tail-whipped around the guy on the floor! Nice one :-)

Sho, no love for second Lappers here, think the okes stopping in middle of road, weaving around and crashing into one another are worse than okes sitting in a small bunch chatting and taking selfies in between beer stops. Our group alone paid R7000 towards charity to ride the second lap and one of the savage ladies raised R10 000 for CANSA while doing the second lap.
