100Tours Posted October 28, 2019 Share I was thinking of putting this on the 'things I've learnt..' thread, but maybe our awesome-most tools deserve their own thread. So- Tools you'd buy again? Stuff that looks OK, but otherwise a complete waste of good cash Stuff you want, can't find, or can't get at the right price nonky
Long Wheel Base Posted October 28, 2019 Share Only cycling related? My work toolbox is snap-on from top to bottom. My toolbox at home is snap-on from top to bottom. I have some parktool stuff where the snap-on tools aren't specific enough. Dexter-morgan, BigDL, Madone69 and 7 others
100Tours Posted October 28, 2019 Share I'm having some trouble uploading pictures (which was kinda the point) - my list of truly cycling specific tools is this 1. chain pliers2. a proper cable cutter3. deraileur alignment guage (especially if you're mountainbiking)4. brake shoe tuner - for rim brakes. a surprisingly good idea5. Bleed kit thebob

100Tours Posted October 28, 2019 Share stuff I want to find still a truly universal bearing puller/press. especially one that won't break the bank (those tuning fork things that you're meant to use to knock bearings out are truly hateful) a facing tool that does more than one thing (e.g. BB + headset). I'd probably also want to be able to grind the extra mm off an 11s cluster too. Edited October 28, 2019 by 100Tours ChrisF and edkin

The Ouzo Posted October 28, 2019 Share I’ll have to clean up my workshop before posting pictures. Now that I have a torque wrench what I’ve found I need is a set of Allen key sockets that have some reach on them, the standard ones in my socket set are a little bulky and short to get into some places on the bike. geomark Posted October 28, 2019 Share A good toolbox to hold it all In terms of the OP's question and not sticking just to bikes but staying away from woodworking. unusual things I find useful, good 1/4" socket set including long sleeve ones for the torque wrench Dexter-morgan, BigDL, johnson and 1 other

geomark Posted October 28, 2019 Share Te more unusual things I would get again, spanners with the pivot end whatever they're called from 8-14mm (I see fanievb already has the set!), a reamer tool for enlarging holes or taking the burr off. a spatula thingy I got off a vet that I end up using for almost everything gooey and a subtle hammer for when persuasion without too much regret is required.
