Andretn Posted November 17, 2019 Share What would the group say is the best 7 day holiday destination in South Africa if you want to MTB?
Butterbean Posted November 17, 2019 Share Not that I have much experience, but I think Somerset West would be amazing. You have so much nearby, as well as competent shops, loads of accommodation choices, and the beach. For riding, it's wannabes trails, jonkershoek close enough, helderberg reserve, coetzenberg trails, lourensford, and the overberg with all of its options just nearby... Stellenbosch is also an option but I do enjoy Somerset west more. BaGearA, Captain Fastbastard Mayhem and Dusty

Christie Posted November 18, 2019 Share +1 for Somerset West & Stellenbosch area. The extensive and awesome trails are the reason international pros like Sauser, Schurter have houses there.
Paul Ruinaard Posted November 18, 2019 Share Hmm, Depends how hard core and steep you want it. Move around CTN area and do new trails every day - some of them are quite far to get to but if you are dedicated you can ride some amazing routes: - City Bowl/Constantia Green Route and Table Mountain- Jonkershoek - Stellenboasch- Welvanpas Wellington- Tokai all the way up to Silver mine and/or the mast for a test.- There's also the tygerberg MTB club area out at Bellville - gazillions of trails there. you need membership Followed by a lunch at a wine farm every day afterwards. Wash rinse repeat... I once planned to do this for the week as well. Much better than KZN IMO as there are no wine farms for lunch afterwards in KZN

No trail is more than 60 min away from one of the central hubs, and there are VAST amounts of choices. Just Jonkershoek could take 3 days worth of riding by itself. Zawillow Posted November 18, 2019 Share Might be a bit biased, but reckon Stellies is a great spot to use as a base. It has bucket load of MTB options in the area - Jonkers, Bottelary Hills, STB trail fund routes all accessible from town. It is also centrally located if you want to head out to Elgin, Somerset West, Paarl and Tygerberg routes on different days. It's also not a bad place to be after the rides.
