PjT Posted January 20, 2020 Share Hi all, I have a friend who has decided to get himself a MTB and start joining us on the trails. His budget is between R25-30k and he is looking for a dual suspension bike; more trail riding type setup than XC. He was asking me if I know of any bicycle shops that would be willing to offer/make available demo bikes to test at a riding area somewhere? Because riding in the parking lot is not the same as the dirt. I couldn't answer him; hence this post ;-) Anybody know of shops in the greater Cape Town area that can do this? Thermophage Posted January 20, 2020 Share Revolution Cycles and Stoke Suspension both have some demo bikes AFIK. And both are also very knowledgeable about non XCO/XCM bikes as well, unlike most other shops I have encountered who seem to think an XCO bike is a good all round bike and not a race specific bike. BaGearA Posted January 20, 2020 Share Just get the Giant TRANCE.This actually a really good reply, beter if you can test ride it to see for yourself but it's excellent for that between xc/trail Long Wheel Base

GroenHoender Posted January 20, 2020 Share I'm sure Flandria in Stellies will be more than willing to help. Second that. In fact, I got the ideal bike, after riding various brands Flandria suggested/loaned to me. I also know/experienced that Specialized branch in Stellenbosch also do the same thing. They even have a small test trail (with table tops and berms) alongside the shop. Not sure if they still do it but buyers can ride a bike on the Blaauwklippen farm behind the shop. Although not a bike shop, Dirtopia (outside Stellenbosch, at Delvera farm) and Ride-In (a bike coffee shop near Jonkershoek) also have a wide range of bikes that one can rent for a day. Brakepad Posted January 21, 2020 Share I have been at a Giant shop lately asking for a demo bike . Giant has a couple of bikes and sends them to the dealers on request. So all you have to do is make a booking in advance. nonky

Great bikes, and owner wants a touch more, but the spec is FAR superior to that Silverback.

thebob Posted January 22, 2020 Share That Silverback looks like a good bike for the price. The Giant got an excellent review here: https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/Vital-MTBs-2-000-Mountain-Bike-Comparison,2793See if the dealer will discount the Giant and throw in a dropper Underachiever
