Warrenlee Posted February 16, 2020 Share Hi guys I need some help. Iv got a second hand Giant Cyclotron Mag Trainer. Problem is I cant seem to get it setup with my bike. My bike is a large frame 29" Silverback hardtail mountain bike. I have set the mag roller to its lowest point however the quick release of the trainer and the skewer of my bike dont line up. My bike is about 20mm too high. My I convert to a smaller tyre? Can I put my wifes 26" tyre on my bike for use on the trainer? Should I rather buy a cheap roadbike and keep in on the trainer? Or am I doing something stupid?
Warrenlee Posted February 16, 2020 Share I have just tried another bike. Its a small medium 27.5" and it seems to work. Should I adjust the bike to fit me as close as possible and train on that or or can I remove that tyre an put in on my bike?
Rocket-Boy Posted February 16, 2020 Share I used to use a road rim on my mtb when I used it on the trainer, it fit fine and the cluster lined up without issues.Im not sure about the Giant but my Cycleops had some adjustment in terms of the height of the roller. reteid Posted February 17, 2020 Share i am speaking from memory as i used to have giant idt.At the back near the roller there are different holes to use as setup between mtb road bike.my 26, 29 and roadbike all fitted so i am pretty sure that is where you should start with the setup.
