Correction: #SpurFest is open to ALL riders from all over the country. It's a fun weekend away with the emphasis on skills, making friends and enjoying the ride - a way to grow the LOVE of the sport. Hence the venue, and to a degree its location. Its a vibe, a roadtrip with friends and/or family and then camping next to the Gariep and riding your bike ALL.DAY.LONG. What could be better!?! This year Alan Hatherly, Ariane Luthi and Candice Lill will be there to spend time with the kids (and parents!) and Johann Pottie Potgieter will be hosting the skills clinics each day. You're thinking of the National Finals at the end of September. ChrisF

Spur Schools MTB League Posted March 16, 2020 Share Spurfest 2020 Canceled 16 March 2020 Following on President Ramaphosa’s address of the nation on 15 March, where national COVID-19 containment measures were introduced, the League will cancel Spurfest 2020. Entry fees will be refunded and League administration will be in contact with entrants regarding the mechanism of such refunds. Further, The League, Spur Steak Ranches and Schools Cycling South Africa (SCSA) supports all measures introduced by the government to contain the spread of COVIT-19 and recognizes that these steps will have a serious impact on League activities going forward. “Schools Cycling South Africa (SCSA) is of the firm belief that everyone can and should contribute to preventing or slowing down the spread of COVID 19 and it is obvious that Schools have a critical role to play. SCSA will follow the guidelines of our Government and the Department of Education relating to the above. "Further measures may be implemented on short notice by the Schools and Education and/or Public health authorities. SCSA in conjunction with the League are taking our responsibility seriously and will monitor this closely.” - Annelize Ziehl-Owens, President SCSA Official updates regarding the League program will be disseminated via the League and SCSA media platforms. In the meantime, we urge all League participants and their families to follow protocol and stay safe during this extraordinary time.
