I was actually wanting the J&J vac myself, but I managed to just miss out. My wife got it, and I have 1 of 2 Pfizer. 2nd due mid October or thereabouts.

Personally based on the substantial reading I did before going for a vaccine, I prefer Pfizer, but that's just me ....

And what do I do in this case? Just recovered from Covid, can only be vaxed a month after recovering, but then not allowed to do strenuous exercise for 4 weeks after being vaxed? (this is what my GP and Dr Google tells me)

I did Galibier and alpe d'huez 1 week after my first shot and mont ventoux twice right after my second shot, not sure why your GP told you that ? Maybe because your shot comes after an actual case of covid ?

The nurse that gave me my J&J said what might happen is that we will have to alternate between Pfizer and J&J for booster shots going forward.

I havent looked into it any further to see how much truth there is in the matter

Yeah, take it slow and steady. Buddy of mine was also told that he needs to stay in Zone 2 for at least two months after recovery from Covid.

I did the same, don't want to cause damage by going too hard too soon.

I'm trying my best to do just that, but it's so damn difficult when the competitive streak emerges.

I know your pain. Steer clear of all people... as soon as two people ride together, I try to WIN! :)

I got the spuit last week Monday. On Saturday I was sessioning the crap out of Hoogekraal Skills Park and threw in some Cobra for some giggles...????

You're saying I was not meant to be? I never knew this.

That is the info that I got.

Mmmm, using Dr Google now, it seems that 1 week abstinence from exercise is all that is required after getting the jab. Obviously depending how severe the Vax symptoms is.

Maybe speak to a medical specialist (not a GP).  My Specialist was very firm in NO strenuous exercise for 10 days after the vaccine.  Even walking around the block my hart rate was much higher than normal, I had to slow down to 15 min/km (damn slow!) to get my hart rate back to normal.  By day 7 I could walk as normal.

A friend (no health issues or co-morbidities) ran the day after her jab.  Slowed down a bare 10 s/km, and her heart rate was barely 2 bpm more than normal.  Day 5 they did a 100+km ride in practicing for the Trans Baviaans.  Think they did the Trans Baviaans about 16 days after her jab.

It affects everybody differently.

either way, best to stay to moderate exercise for 10 days, and MONITOR your heart rate.

Time will tell if something bad happens to me but i was pretty much back at doing hard bike sessions  the very next day after receiving my 1st shot and 2nd shot of the Pfizer vaccine.  (MTB Ultra marathon distance and Vo2max intervals respectively  - and numbers looked where they should be - Sh** as always ????)

Gym work was delayed due to the arm pain

I obviously need to do more research.... I had jab 2 on Friday, rode Jonkers Saturday and did 13 peaks in under 24 hours on Tuesday... I hope I don't ded

Lots of info about this on the vaccination sites, under the adverse effects sections - search for "heart inflammation".

It is a typical side effect which impacts a very SMALL portion, which is probably why it is not this widely listed on the warnings.

Just MONITOR your heart rate for the first week .... dont ignore higher than normal values, and dont ignore chest pains ....
