mrJohan Posted May 4, 2020 Share The hubs on the Silverback mtb. How good are they?
hansolo Posted May 4, 2020 Share SunRingle is one of the well known brands out there but you might need to be a bit more specific with regards to your bike.
Me rida my bicycle Posted May 4, 2020 Share I am guessing you are talking about the Silverback Storm? The sun ringle is now Stan's hub's if not mistaken. All I can remember is it used small bearings which made them nice and light but needed to be replaced more often than say Hope's.
KB280DT Posted October 29, 2022 Share Reviving this old post. Had my rear hub fail on me this morning. It is the standard sunringle hub that my silverback stratos came out of the factory with. Seems that the pawls engage whenever they feel like it. Is this hub serviceable and where will I find parts? Just want to get it going until bonus time in Dec when I’ll probably purchase a new hub. dasilvarsa Posted October 29, 2022 Share I would suggest a visit to Bike Shop or Post Picture of Hub. Sounds Like a Problem with the FreeBody Assembly. Stuck or Worn Pawls.
David Marshall Posted October 29, 2022 Share A good clean and lube if nothing visibly wrong with the pawls.

KB280DT Posted October 29, 2022 Share Thanks guys. I’ll have a better idea Monday afternoon when I take the cassette off. So far indications seem to point to pawl spring failure.

David Marshall Posted October 29, 2022 Share I just use whatever the kids break. I suppose the thicker the better as long as it fits freely into the grove. No tricks. As simple as in the pics. ChrisF
KB280DT Posted November 2, 2022 Share UPDATE: The spring is fubar. Pleasantly surprised though when I was told that the freebody will be replaced this afternoon under warranty 😎 @ChrisF - dankie vir jou hulp sover ou maat 👍 ChrisF
ChrisF Posted November 2, 2022 Share Bit of technical feedback ... The way the spring broke, into 1/3 and 2/3 caused interesting issues. The 2/3 section would intermittinedly activate the pawls, and engage the hub. On Saturday the hub stopped engaging 1km into an event .... ouch ! Yesterday when we looked at it .... hub works perfectly !! Well, might as well open and see what is happening .... ook maar goed die vloer was skoon, want toe val die stukke af ....
