Thanks Eendoog ;)

I dont have the same level of expertise as you so what would you recommend I look for specifically when checking the components and what kind of questions should I ask the seller?

Thanks in advance!.

Are they advertised on this site ?I found the bergamont but only a giant trance in large

How much do you weigh?

I weigh 100kg and would NOT buy a 2nd hand Anthem.

I love my Giant Anthem !!! and have had 4!

1st 26" (2005) bought 2nd Hand - Frame Cracked

2nd 26" (2009) bought 2nd Hand - loved it sold on BikeHub

1st 29" (2011) bought 2nd Hand - Frame Cracked

2nd 29" (2013) Bought New - Frame Cracked - Replaced under warranty

My 2013 29" Anthem the frame cracked ( at the Top tube and Seat Post). Fortunately I bought it new  and the frame was replaced with a 2017 model. The 2017 model Giant has addressed the weak spot at the Toptube and Seatpost and it looks stronger.

If you're under 85kg Yes buy a 2nd Hand Anthem - you will not regret it !!

if you're over 85kg rather get a Specialized, Trek, Scott Or Silverback.

if I had to replace my Anthem and given my 100kg weight, I would go for a 2nd hand 'Trail Bike' with a beefier frame in the lines of:

Silver Back Stratos (120mm Trail Bike)

Specialized Camber or Stump Jumper

Merida 120 600

Are you fairly tall as well? I'm just wondering how far the seat post drops into the frame and if it's not maybe that which is cracking your frames.

I am 182cm.

Same height as me.

At 77Kg, plus the height - if that helps with the decision of too heavy + too tall = cracked frame comments. I’ve yet to crack a frame from being over weight (93Kg being my heaviest ever).

3 out of the 4 Anthems that you have owned have cracked.

And you still love the brand. Now that's loyalty. ????
