Eddie Stafford Posted June 15, 2020 Share I need 6803 - C3 bearings to rebuild an American Classic rear hub. The supplier says he can get 6803 bearings, but not the C3. The 6803 bearing size is standard 17 x 26 x 5 mm. Does the C3 play a role and if so what? Thank you.

Eddie Stafford Posted June 15, 2020 Share Technical details (C3) C3=Internal Clearance Larger Than Normal. Bore C - Cylindrical BoreRadial Internal Play C3 Internal Play (Higher than Cn) Thank you, I found this that explains the Internal Clearing. https://blog.slsbearings.com.sg/why-is-normal-clearance-no-longer-the-normal They say C3 is slightly larger than normal. So I wonder if I can use Cn rather than C3 in the hub.
DieselnDust Posted June 15, 2020 Share C3 works in high speed applications like smal engines or electric motors driving industrial gearboxes. The clearance allows for luricating oil to circulate. You are better off with a bearing of tighter clearance Eddie Stafford

I will go for the normal 6803 and I am sure it should be OK.
