Mafikizolo Posted July 6, 2020 Share Good day, Currently I'm commuting between Somerset West and Stellenbosch and absolutely enjoy the MTB trails mixed with the tar & railway sections. Commuting via bicycle is crucial for my physical and mental state! ; ) Planning to move to Wellington in the near future as my offices have now moved to Paarl. Now the dilemma:Anyone aware if the Jan van Riebeeck/ Piet Retief road is commutable? Or if not, is there a track that one can use that is safe? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Ciao! 'Dale Posted July 6, 2020 Share Exit Wellington on the western end towards R44 and gooi a L at 4 way stop into Noorder-Paarl. Cool shoulder. Scenic. And 4.8728 kms extra to make you fitter. Let's Ride
Adriandup Posted July 6, 2020 Share +1 for the R44. Avoid Jan van Riebeeck. Traffic is chaos. For the trails, check out Hero Adventure Trails. Annual fee for 2020 was R1000. Gets you access to Paarl Mt trails (Rhebokskoof, Spice route etc), Boschendal & Wild Boar trails in Wellington. Fee from 1 July to 31 December is R600
PhilipV Posted July 7, 2020 Share I agree on the R44 and R45 route. So much so that even in my car I rather drive that instead of Jan van Riebeeck drive.
