Lekker Boys, so with +- 2 weeks to go, and the amazing cape town weather over weekends, imbuko is going to kick me in the nuts, but looking forward to it.

Entry is done, but yikes, Covid payed me a visit, so short on proper hilly rides, to give me any sort of confidence for what this event throws at you.....not sure if I'll make the start line.  I mean, I cramped and took shots in all of my previous attempts, when I was a lot fitter, so can only imagine the whip will be biting early on this year !

Race start changed to 7h00????. Are you guys ready for this one? Superb single track riding and it should not be too hot this time of the year ????...

18 days still to go, more than enough time to sharpen that blade ????

Thanks for the concern - been given the green light, although not a full medical assessment in the true sense of the word. That said, I made the decision on the weekend to rather opt out.  It is such a stunning event, but I maintain, one of the toughest marathons I have done.  After doing all the previous versions, and having a fair amount of suffering at one stage or the other during them, I foresee that I am a little undercooked in preparation, and this is not an event you want to line up for, not 100% ready.  Best of luck to all of you, hopefully back for 2022 !  #goodtimes

oh dear

i think the realisation that my eyes were bigger than my legs has caught up to me.

Guess i gotta be like the sprinters in the mountain stages of a grand tour. Hang out in the grupetto and make the time cut

Edit: Whats the time cut?

Waiting for the organizer to start a new 2022 Event thread but in the meantime, 43 days to go, who is lining up again?

Seems to my bogey event 1 out 3 completed. Hopefully this year I get to participate.

Was / Is putting this one down again for some equal amounts of fun vs suffering.  Had a bit of a setback this week when I ate some dirt, but should be able to get back to proper training in a week or so from now.

My youngster is also lining up this year and he is quite excited for the challenge, after listening to his dad's war stories of this event over the last few years.

Still right up there for me as one of the best events on the local calendar.

Glad to hear you made the cut off, well done! It's one of those events that grow on you, almost like a must do even though you know you are going to be put through torture. must be the thrill of accomplishment.
