I've seen "Petals" as well. I blame afrikaans people.

Not sure when these became the same thing ...

 

The lower cage is a Jockey pully cage and the wheels are jockey pulley wheels. These are accepted engineering terms. However the whole assembly is a Derailleur so there's that :)

 

Cluster instead of cassette.

 

Rear cassette... have yet to see one on the front. 

 

 

Back in the day when we were riding 6 sprockets on the back and all were fixed together and the freebody screwed into the hub it the sprockets were call a sprocket set.

Then Shimano came up with a system where we could change an individual sprocket to tailor the gear ratios to your own liking it became known as a Sprocket cluster. at the same time the freebody was built into the hub and a 7th sprocket added. So "cluster" became the generic name. This goes back to the mid to late 80's Or BM (before Millennials)
