A year in stats.

Strava offered up some nice stats for the year.

I was sick for the first 3 months of the year and really battled to get back into cycling after the downtime.

Share your yearly stats [emoji106]

Good innings for the year

I battled a lot so I’m happy that I hit the 4K goal.

Yours are probably double that [emoji3]

Nope almost the same in distance. only about 80 km more with less climbing and about 75 hours less time.

My commuting days are over so scraping time and distance together is a issue for me at the moment.

At the beginning of this year my wife asked me : what is your general aim for 2020 ?

Being 71 at the time I said : to stay above the ground .

Well, with a few hours to go ,I did that .

And a bit more :

201 active days

344 hours

6812 km

50951 m elevation

most active day Saturday

most active time between 05h00 and 06h00

94 PR’s

hilliest ride 1592 m

All on hardtail mtb

I am grateful.

What an upside down year ....

I started very active, even entered my first two day stage race. Booked and paid, and started exercising towards this ...

ONE week later my knee packed up while doing the Hemel and Aarde trails .... physio, doc, X-rays, MRI, Ortho .... month later I got the news.

Torn meniscus (and 20 years of arthritis damage).

No operation.

No more MTB ...

And so my journey started with the bio .... what an angel !!

And I switched to the dark side .... got my ebike on 17 February, but no cycling on instruction of the bio ...

By the time the bio's program started delivering results it was 27 March ... a date we will remember. Thankfully I had an IDT, and slowly clocked up miles.

1 May the ebike finally got its first ride. 2 May I got properly drenched in cloudburst on the way home, still a lovely ride.

So herewith my very modest, but very gratefull, combined MTB, IDT, commuter & ebike data for the year

Distance 2 340 km

Elevation 30 898 m

Time 143 h

All I know is that I was looking to a best commuting km for the year, was fit, was leaner and then COVID kicked my cycling in the bottom bracket!

Slowly crawling back now, and we will hopefully be back in office as of Feb, so a guaranteed ride of just short on 50km per work day at least.
