capediver Posted July 27, 2022 Share I tried that new trail a few days back, what a blessing, I have used "old" UP version since it was cleared maybe a year or 2 back (?) but always descended on the road from the Nek to Hout Bay, this time I took the newly cleared path down and, man, what fun.....! So now from Tokai, up the Greenbelt, to the top of Southern Cross Drive, across and up that TBMT jeep track climb, over to Constantia Nek, down this new path to the first Hout Bay circle.....almost zero tar!!! capediver Posted December 28, 2022 Share City has been clearing up along the road down from the Nek to Hout Bay with fire department doing some maintenance to hydrants....one of these was on the bike path at the main left corner halfway down the route, it was a manhole very close to the road and I believe the lid was destroyed by trucks riding to close to the edge on the corner, leaving a gaping hole which was camouflaged by grass..... a death trap if you didn't know it was there! Anyway, they have replaced and painted the lid!!! Great work!!! BTW came across Toby the trail fairy doing some drainage repairs the trail...great work Toby, thanks for your efforts! Zebra Posted December 29, 2022 Share Yes, as I live in Houties and travel out by car 2x per week, I noted the repairs to many of the Hydrants, incl being freshly painted for easier spotting them… then yesterday morning, I noticed a road crew with spades, clearing the weeds, grass-ingress into the rainwater channels; this was not the expanded work programme, but an a actual road crew, just a small section of road, but nice and spickerish none-the-less! Really nice trail, keeping MTB. / Gravel traffic off a very busy road! Zebra Posted July 16, 2023 Share I believe some NEW work has been taking place on the HB-C’Nek trail - have had the dreaded flu, so not ridden THIS track in a while - anyone got any updates?
