He's just come back from a long time off.. Surely they aren't expecting him to just destroy the field.. It will take time.

It’s his first Grand Tour. Week 3 is loaded with mountains. Almeida bleeded minutes in the rain yesterday. He is the last GC man standing for the team in blue. Gonna be interesting. The trend of Bernal, Pogačar and other relatively young GC successes will be a boost.

Vlasov is quality, lots of GC riders aren't letting him grab a bottle without changing gears incase he attacks.

Fair enough. He's untested at three weeks though, isn't he a Grand Tour virgin?

Peloton reluctant to be in the Break today.

Two riders go up the road, and no-one else reacts.

Long day ahead.

See you guys with 10km to go...

Congratz to De Marchi, the veteran who's been in many a break, grinding away.

This is the highlight of his career, I'm sure, the maglia rosa. What a beautiful lifetime achievement, especially as an Italian.

He is from Buia, a small town near the city of Udine...............my late Parents hometown

My 2nd cousin was at school with Alessandro too...........

After 1 hour, on a pan-flat road, the leaders have travelled at an average of 37.2 km/h.

Not setting the world alight with pace here are they...
