Please help me identify this snake at Big Red Barn

I may have hit this fellow trail user with my back wheel today at Red Barn.

Definitely a dark grey or dirty black in colour. Photo suggested about 1.5m?

Apologies for the potato photo. It’s mostly just to see the size.

Did it have whitesish colors under its neck?

. I ask cause I work in midstream and we catch A rinkals almost weekly

It was in the big jump line so I was going a far speed. The next frame on that video (at 25fps) has his head a cm or so from my tire.

Didn’t see his neck. Research suggests mole snake.

That definitely looks like a blind mole snake

Blind enough to moer straight in front of me. I almost ruined a good pair of shorts ????

I was hoping it wasn’t the blind one. I need a good danger story!

you will soil your shorts when you know what snake it is and its a cape cobra doing the slithering between your wheels.

bought the OMO

Difficult to ID from that shot, but head shape do suggest a mole snake.

Edit:  If so, they have a nasty bite but not venomous at all.

My GoPro is as old as I am. 1 megapixel screenshot basically.

Wasn’t a pointy head. More a wider head tapering to round front.

NEVER EVER let facts ruin a good braai story ....

Not sure I will wait to identify it before ruining my pants ...  :whistling:

Few weeks back we are doing B Spot, just past the horse stables .... And Maritz STOPS in the trail, when I ask him why .... "Ek dink hier het nou n slang in die bos in gegaan" - Right NEXT to where he is standing ....    Thankfully I managed to keep my pitch ... when I suggested we carry on riding as others are catching up ....    Most importantly, he has not mentioned this to his mom ....  :whistling:
