Unfair reviews.

So as we all know, there is a review system in place. I have now twice been reviewed 1 star recently.

The first one was because of what I believed to be a justified 1 star review I left for a hubber. And he then felt the need to review me back with a matching 1 star review. And included in that review was false information trying to justify his 1 star retaliation review.

The second was simply for making a offer that ToysRus thought was too low. Is that not abusing the review system? I was not rude or malicious in any way. I have all correspondence with both hubbers which can clearly show that the 1 star reviews I've recieved were out of line. (In my honest opinion anyway)

How many others out there have suffered the same unfair abuse of the review system and what can be done to avoid it happening? I'm sure Bikehub have better things to do than to police such happenings.

At the end of the day, it is such a pitty. I'm certainly not the first and definitely not the last to experience such unnecessary drama and abuse of the review system.....

Hey BaBearA. The difference is I believe mine was justified. Thought I made that clear haha. Clearly not clear enough.

I can almost guarantee that the others would feel theirs was justified too.

. So you doing EXACTLY what you are here complaining about it fine because it's justified by YOU

But others doing it because of your behavior on here isn't?

The review system provides false confidence, as it gets abused. And because people post stupid reviews, like you mentioned. We saw this with the wrong fork saga a while back as well.

I just don't trust it, so I won't buy anything off the Hub sight unseen.

First off, the first review should not have be given by you as no deal was done as per BikeHub Rules:

"5.8 User reviews. User reviews should only be submitted where an agreement to transact exists or a transaction was concluded. We reserve the right to remove feedback which relates to negotiations or communications where there was no agreement and/or a transaction did not take place."

Secondly, both reviews given to you speak about your low ball offers, perhaps, you have irritated enough people with silly offers, as one of the people said you had done it a few times to them, that they had just had enough.

Thirdly, and it speaks to your sill offers, you made an offer on something that you needed, but had a budget, as you said in the review. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good bargain like anyone else, but just because I have a budget of X amount, doesn't mean I should make that offer on what ever item I needed even though its way over my budget. You made the guy an offer almost 40% lower, so don't get emotional when the guy gets irritated with you.

My experience, if you generally conduct your trades in an amicable and decent manner then your reviews will indicate as such. Had an issue a while ago where I was messed around and reviewed the Hubber appropriately. Then received the retaliation which was then dealt with via admin.

If the reviews he got were for low balling and from 2 different people then I can only think the op has got what he deserves.

I’ll hijack the thread for a minute....

So a few weeks ago, I take an Uber from my home to the Marina with my wife. Uber was a few min late but ok, was not an issue, however we get in and this vehicle is not too clean and has a bit of a funky smell. Anyway, it’s winter over here now so put the windows down a bit and we go. End of the trip I get out and give the driver a 3 Star rating. I state “cleanliness” in the comments box. No less than 2 min later I get a 1 star rating in my Uber App as well as an email from Uber saying that I’ve been reported for “not wearing a mask” while in the car and my accounts been suspended for 30 days...

Both myself and my wife wore our masks 100% of the trip, before getting in the car and once out.

I was quite shocked at the reaction to my justified rating and eventually did get my account reactivated after a formal complaint and no proof I did not comply to PPE rules. All Public transport here have front and rear cameras with audio so I asked for the footage. I was just surprised as the customer how I got “bullied”.

Hijack off....

I think a buyer had every right to offer a price he thinks is fair. If you can't make a lower offer than the asking price I think it will kill a lot of trade on the hub.

Edit - also you're not getting rated on your interaction. you're getting rated on your trustworthiness and reliability as a buyer or seller.

All social media with like/rating type feedback mechanisms is prone to this including the hub.

But to have yr account banned for a month is unacceptable. How did you get home?

I recently received a bunch of lowball offers on a specific item that I had listed. My price was fair - and actually cheaper than most, since I wanted to move along and already purchased a new version of said part.

I understand cheeky offers - but as seller, I saw myself as being extremely courteous when answering "no thank you" when someone offered me 40% less than asking price, rather than telling them to bugger off.

Bedside manners will make a cheeky offer go far - so I would like to see the interactions and actual way the offers were presented.

Just remember - there's cheeky, there's lowball, and there's rude.
