Mike Mac Posted April 24, 2021 Share Hi I am relatively nee to MTB and haven’t done any MTB races and have not ridden any of the Paarl trails. Could you please advise on the level of skills required to ride these trails (ie how technically challenging are they)? As a reference point on my level of skills, I have ridden most of the Tokai trails except the DH routes without any major issues. Would this race be a suitable one to do my first race on? I am not worried from a fitness point of view, but rather that the trails are too technical/difficult/dangerous for a rider with my level of skills to undertake. Any advice will be appreciated. Michaelits technical in some sections, as a newbie I wouldn’t take it on but if you say you’ve ridden all of Tokai except the DH lines then you should be fine assuming you did all the snake trails from the top all the way to the bottom, cobra, mamba, etc?? Have you done Donkey Trail down, if yes to the above then you should be fine. Edited April 24, 2021 by milky4130

I have also done one or two of the DH sections, but not often enough to say I am comfortable on them. I will need to think carefully if I take it on or not. Mark James Posted April 25, 2021 Share number collection on Thursday and Friday is pretty crap. SOme of us work and getting out all the way to Paarl ( an hour drive away) and back the next day is pretty unreasonableI registered for the event last night before seeing your message, and reading online that entries need to be collected in Paarl. There is no way I am driving 2+ hours to Paarl and back on Thur/Fri to collect my entry, and then drive back there early Sat morning to ride. It is unfortunate, as it would have been an enjoyable ride. Pity the organisers couldn't have made it a little more user friendly... Number collection will be held at the Specialized-Paarl Store (Pieter Hugo St, Courtai, Paarl) on Thursday 29 April (10:00am – 17:00pm) and Friday 30 April (10:00am – 18:00pm). No number collection or substitutions on the day of the event. Mike Mac Posted April 28, 2021 Share Hi. I am also looking for an entry if more than one is available. Michael
Cookie88 Posted April 29, 2021 Share Anyone know whether or not you'll be able to fetch entries on the morning? Up to this point event seems super well organised but having to do a 2 hour round trip from Cape Town on a Thursday or Friday is dumb.
