I just wait for a new chain to slip. Are you referring to the "bulge" of aluminum on the top of the tooth? Is that the sign that it's time to replace it? Yes as the U has not opening up and that is where the chain slips off

I'm guessing thats why the chain sometimes "sticks" to the cassette and rotates with it after it should. I thought that was a chain tension problem. droo Posted July 2, 2021 Share If you can see that a cassette is worn, it's beyond knackered. Put a new chain on it and ride it up a hill, running through all the gears. If it skips, bin it. If not, it's fine. Replace the chain before it hits 0.5% wear and it'll last forever. dasilvarsa, DieselnDust and Quagga

I have always been under the impression that it was a 'few tiers down'. If the chain is good there is little wear on the cassette MudLark

Have a brand new set of running gear in the cupboard for the moment this thing skips a beat. shot to heck and beyond ???? its only the dirt keeping that thing working. Don't clean it whatever you do do not clean it Alouette3, Quagga, Mars1967 and 1 other 2
