Wireless Headphones / Earphones

Hey Guys

Looking for a pair of new wireless headphones for running and cycling. I currently have Jaybird Vista which is great but doesn't work properly with my Garmin Forerunner 945. I usually use just one headphone so i can hear traffic but I think some of the new headphones have a feature where you can hear traffic. Any recommendations ?

Hi,

Not sure of the budget, but Aftershox Aeropex are amazing. Works perfectly with my Garmin Fenix and other items. They bone conduction which means they not in your ear so you can have a conversation and listen for traffic while using them.

Budget not mentioned - I have Jabra Elite 85t - Holy Mothers!! Sound is incredible, comfortable on the ear (very important), works well with all devices (also has touch control on the earbuds) and battery life very good! I can recommend them! A note though -once snug in the ear and ANC is switched on, it works VERY well and outside sounds very well blocked. You will hear a car honking and loud-ish sounds but general noise blocked. You can disbale ANC or even better - enable passthrough - then outside sounds actually gets played in the ear. Very important to me are earbuds that are sweatproof and these are.

I guess some folks don't mind running with headphones on, but how on earth do you cycle with them? ????

Left one in, right one stays at home.

Great for listening to podcasts (mostly these days Science of Sport and The Move (and JB2) with a bit of JRE for good measure)

Lets me take calls form colleagues and clients whilst on the bike. Right ear hears the cars and road noise. (the galaxy buds are also great as they have a setting to pass ambient noise through to the ear inside whatever you're listening to.)

Interesting topic, I recently managed to make some changes. I have a set of Jaybird Vista's (the first version) and although the audio quality was great these kept falling out of my ears. I used them mostly when running (outside and treadmill) and when cycling on the indoor trainer. I tried all three sizes without luck and was about to get them molded via a specialist audiology company when someone recommended I take a look at the Beats Powerbeats Pro as an alternative.

I've been very happy with the Powerbeats Pro, happy to recommend them. Oh and I use one earphone only when running or cycling outside, it blocks out too much ambient noise for me to consider using both.

What's the call quality like while riding for the person on the other end? Do they get lots of wind noise?

Pretty good actually. I guess if you're going 50km/h it would be hectic, I generally back off to 30-ish or lower. Generally during the week when I would get calls I'm on the MTB (mostly at Riverfields) so not going that fast anyway.
