Deed hubs not engaging

Hoping the wise hubbers can help

I have deeds hub 6 pawl hubs that are not engaging when I pedal.

Removed the hub to check if hub was gunked up or not moving freely etc.

We did all the basic checks of the pawls and springs and they all move as they should but the ratchet teeth in the hub also moves, which I doubt that it should.

As I back pedal it moves perfectly and noisy as usual.lol

This pic is for reference,  to show what part is moving. Should it ? If not why would it rotate and feels fairly stiff as it rotates

Then pic of the deed hub, can't find too much info on the web about  deed hubs.

How does the ring stay in the hub? Is it threaded or bonded? Either way can be repaired if you find an engineering works that can help you. Should be a lot cheaper than a new hub as well

That ring eother threads in or its slotted (like novatech)

Either way it shouldn't rotate in anyway

If you pull it out, you may be able to see if anything has broken off in a slot or what not.

You should be able to bond that really easily.

SP340 epoxy bond will keep that in place forever

If you dont come right, take it to the guys at Knipe Racing, I'd back them to either resolve the issue or give you an honest opinion.

If you can get it out, even it is threaded and it has stripped, you could put it back in with a little Loctite 613 I think it is, it will NEVER come out again, pretty sure if you dripped some around on the seam where the driver meets the body, enough will hopefully work its way between the surfaces that it will work as well

I think I will attempt this instead of paying Btwn R2500 to R5k for new hub

This will be my last option, thanks

Just edited my comment, should have said "will hopefully" work into place, no guarantees that it will work 100%

Going to purchase tomorrow, today was like a crazy Monday

Hoping local hardware or builders has this

Also need to buy a proper pick to remove ratchet

Highly doubt you will get it at a general hardware store, will most likely need to go to a bearing shop

Also, don't buy any product that looks as though it may be an equivalent. Only use the real thing.

Keep in mind that ring transfer ALL the torque you put in into the wheel. Any type of glue or Loctite would keep it from falling out, but I doubt it will keep it from rotating (ie transfer the torque). If it does, it probably wont do it for very long and may fail when you least want it to.

I would get an opinion from a good bike mechanic (it is difficult to give advice without seeing the part first hand) and/or chat to Pyga (Deed are their component brand).
