Scott roy Posted September 2, 2021 Share Hi all. I currently have a 2016 cannondale scalpel si team in size M. My problem is that I require a L, I have found a size L high mod on the hub here however it is a 2018 model and I am not 100% sure if the rear wheel and fork will fit it. Any opinions on whether it will fit or not will be appreciated as I don’t want to buy a frame that won’t work for me. here is my scalpel and the frame I am considering
Jbr Posted September 2, 2021 Share Hi, both are with the old lefty hey not the ocho ? I'd assume you should be allright but I'll let @DieselnDust tell you for sure, he's the specialist
DieselnDust Posted September 2, 2021 Share Since both your 2016 M and the 2018 L have headtube lengths of 122mm the distance between the inside faces of the clamps should be 124mm on your Lefty so it will fit. Take a tape measure and confirm those lengths????
letsride Posted September 2, 2021 Share Rear wheel will also work, you will need to have it redished to allow for the ai offset. You might also need a ai offset chainring or a new crankset, the newer spec scalpels run a pf30a83 bb. DieselnDust

The 2018 Ai Wheels have spokes of equal length on both sides. 2018 Scalpel uses a 137mm Ai Axle. The cranks set itself should be ok but the Ai Axle will be a requirement. If using Hollowgram cranks much of the hardware is transferable, except for new DM chainring and axle.
letsride Posted September 2, 2021 Share No need to rebuild, there is enough room for movement in the spokes to adjust for the ai offset. But yes, it might be the safer way to go in the long run. OP has a Lyne crankset on the current scalpel, im not too familiar with those but I don't think they use a independent axle so would most likely have to be a new crankset. Scott roy Posted September 2, 2021 Share Hi thanks for all the info. I’m between selling the bike as is and getting a large or doing the frame switch. Cannondale parts can be problematic as specially on the older ones so since it looks like it won’t just be as simple as taking the parts of one frame and putting them on the other so maybe selling and buying a large is for the best

Would a Sram XX1 crank work? I do have on lying around

DieselnDust Posted September 2, 2021 Share 2 hours ago, Scott roy said: Would a Sram XX1 crank work? I do have on lying around It will likely not have a long enough axle. If its a GXP model it might fit but I doubt it. IF BB30 then not unless it came from a BB30 equiped fatbike or the axle says Ai on it. A Rotor crank could work as some have 136mm long axles. There's no cheap solution other than to trawl through Ebay or bikehub classifieds for Hollowgram or Hollowgram Si crank. The SiSL is frighfully expensive
Me rida my bicycle Posted September 3, 2021 Share Thanks guys for helping making up my mind real quickly. Was looking at that frame as a fun project but it sounds like anything but fun with offset wheel and special crank...

SRBVI Posted September 3, 2021 Share Great looking bike and an informative thread. I don't want to be that guy but my eye is also drawn to the bottle of Sunlight in the background I hope this is not what was used to clean the bike?

Scott roy Posted September 3, 2021 Share Thanks for all the info. I’m trying to find an Ai offset crank, if I do I will probably do the build over. Anyone know if my rockshox monarch XX will fit? I believe it should DieselnDust
