Not your original numbering, after I removed the irrelevant lines.
This is common on group rides and many races.

Moment of the day for me... I'm sitting tucked in behind other bikes going down on other side of Smits. I don't have enough gears on my MTB to actually pedal down there so I just sit in an aero tuck with my dropper post down...

Here comes this old tannie shouting she is passing on my right, I moved over... the guy ahead of me was not as courteous and she went ballistic... I tucked in behind her and used he as my bulldozer through the crowd :)

Most of what I said was "********f**k" every time we were going more than 40kph and I was hearing 15 disc brakes go SQUEEEEAAAAAAAK

Used to have that issue with the standard Shimano pads, fitted SwissStop pads and now completely silent

Great day out - never been so wet on a road bike before. My alu bike frame ingested so much water it leaked out all over my car and kitchen floor. No real issues other than one or two people doing silly things but nothing out of the ordinary for le Tour.  The rain and spray led to an eyeful of debris that i only managed to get out of my left eye by late evening.

don't think it's brand related, I have shimano stock pads and disks in and my bike doesn't make a noise, my prev bike with sram brakes was super lound in the rain, no matter which pads. I think it just comes down to rotors wear and how contaminated rubbing parts are...

I have the dreaded stomach bug today.Â đŸ˜±Â Must be something I sucked up off the road. đŸ¤®

My two younger Ds remarked on how the built up areas of the route smelled terrible in the wet. I think with the unusually high number of homeless people encamped everywhere on sidewalks and in parks, with zero sanitation, it stands to reason that the rain would wash all kinds of horrible human waste into the roads.........sorry to mention it to people with less sturdy constitutions............but that is quite possibly the reason.

So herewith my version of the Argus 2022.

DISCLAIMER - This is written by a fun rider, starting at the BACK.  So anything but a "race report" .....

I been involved with the "Argus" back when it was still the Argus cycle tour, but not as a rider.  When I started cycling again in 2016 a lot of people asked if I was going to do the Argus.  Doing a 20km hard ride had me pampering my knees for the next week, so this was not even a realistic dream, never mind a bucket list item.  January 2020 I was practicing for a 40km ride, and that was pushing my limits, when my knee finally konked in .... next few weeks were spent in Dr's, Specialists, X-ray, MRI, Physio and then Bio's offices ....  In short, no they would not operate, but I would no longer be riding a normal bike.  Lots of bio sessions, and an ebike later the distances started increasing.

This is when I bought the Darrvin Connect, as my "road bike".

@Eldron commented on how few commuter type bikes are to be expected at the CTCT ..... and so I took the leap and registered.  Got "seeded" in 9D - at the BACK.  so for good measure I started right at the BACK .....

Easy to see the "rain" ....

But all over there was a VIBE, and people ready for a LEKKA day out around the peninsula.  Saw the "Golden girls" a couple of times along the route -

R90,000 and capable of 80kph!

No wonder the cheapie single piston Tektro brake pads don't last....

@Long Wheel Baseand his stoker came past me purring like a Porsche GT3 passing Clifton. I was running out of gel power, hehehe.

Anyone know why so many have underreading on their ascent, including meÂ đŸ˜‡

Yip, my Garmin wanted to get out of the ride so much it teleported half way (up Smits) and came back with an extra 307km and 197km average speed. Unfortunately I couldn't maintain that average... đŸ˜’

My First full argus (did the half one back in the fire days). Rode with my neighbour. Despite the rain, had an epic day. Left my gravel tyres on. Was a good discision. Probably 3 punctures that sealed up. Didn't even have to stop for extra air.

Water lubricates the cutting object (ie glass) reducing the friction to cut the tyre. Simple test, try shaving dry....

Phew, glad he didn't say that other thing that needs lubrication....

Around Ladies Mile the amount of water on the road and the roast from those lovely C50 gravel tires had my leaning to the side ..... my head bobbing over the left grip, trying to get out of my own spray .....

Simply heart braking to see this ....

As we turned next to the sea the view, the day, the weather, and the mood changed for the better .... the rain had stopped, and if you stayed out of the spray from other bikes you could actually see the sea and the wonderful views of this bay.
